here's an eyebrow raiser... Why when I enter a catagory for a submission does it later change to something completly different? I make a comic with characters I invented and think of something clever to happen and I mark it as "cartoon, comic & manga > manga > single pages > traditional work" cause may I say, that's what it is... Then it afterwards appears as "animations & games > fan art > manga/anime > traditional > books/novels"

... ...but they're comics...

That makes it look like I'm another wanna-be copy-cat fan-boy... even though I make it all up... I hardly do any fan work anymore... let alone READ a novel... XD

<.< looking back, it seems like 86 of my works have been changed to this... Um... Why? If you can show me that any of these people I tend to invent as I draw them the first time in a comic bare any resemblence to a real character, do ask me... XD cause I'm pretty sure inventing them on the spot is different to copying someone elses work...

***Oh yeah, and if you notice a bunch of people suddenly using my avatar, that's normal... I've discovered that apparently Monday, a bunch of people were gonna use my avatar to creep me out cause the mudkip incident really bugged me... XD I identify people by their avatars and when they all suddenly became mudkips, I couldn't tell who was who and I was all
I have no idea how long they intend on doing this, nor do I really know why... XD All I know is that I came accross a journal planning it and a comment saying what day it started... So I re-drew my avatar... XD Now It's origonal again!

***in other other news, both my arms had been sore the past few days... probably from moving things around and too much work and dragging in a giant TV from a garage sale... Either way, I've been sore and out of the mood from drawing... cause it hurts and I'm a wuss... XD By the way, I got me an origonal Nintendo system with 2 controllers and all the connections at that garage sale for only 10 dollars (canadian)... Which may I say, was too good to turn down... XD

oh yeah, and pie!

*****(May 1,2008) I will no longer be accepting duels! I am cleaning up before I go.

(challenger is on the right for all of them and in order of due dates)

Duels done:

1. vs [link]
victory to me by default :(

2. [link] vs [link]
"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi: *mandalorianjedi was the winner in a not so easy decision, both artists did bring unique aspects to the duels, but in the end, unfortunately there could be only one, and that one was Mandalorianjedi. *mandalorianjedi You did an excellent job with the dialogue and character interaction in your piece. You did a good job on conveying the difference in the characters, and did keep it engaging while they were having their argument. Only real recommendations for future duels is to possibly add a bit more to the backgrounds to give a clearer sense to where the characters are, and also possibly try out a few different angles for the character's positions in the fight - most were front or 3/4 views. ~SSBFreak I have to always give credit for originality, especially regarding a takedown-by-origami technique (it had me rolling), however, it was not enough for the win of the duel since there wasn't as much action between the two opponents. Cameos are a good thing, however, you should still keep more of a focus on what the two that are fighting are doing. Panelwise, it was very engaging and did flow well. The only other suggestion I can make is to avoid using sound effects only to resolve the fight instead of action. Great job on both of the participants parts. :)"
Oh posh! I'm no novice when it comes to comics! I did that cause there was more dialogue then fight...

3. vs and [link]
Victory to me by deault... :(

4. [link] and vs and [link]
"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi: The premise of this 2-on-2 battle was very interesting. Both competitors had a similar premise of the battle (though akina-sa and lisacat89 did some marvelous coloring on their part, and they did mix it up with the paneling and pacing quite a bit more than mandalorianjedi) Mandalorianjedi did a better job overall, he had more meat to his dialogue and revealed more about the characters, and did a good job with the fight."

5. [link] vs [link]
"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi: This was very much an art versus story match for me. Much more of a fight in Mandal's entry, though theres no doubt jbc had the better art. In the intrest of balance I'd like to see Mandal adding a bit more detail to his work in terms of things like backgrounds or even just extending his characters to the edge of the panels, and perhaps seeing more fight scripted from jbc."
 Me? Use backgrounds? Quality? Nonsence! Quantity over quality!

6. [link] vs [link]
"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi: This was a great match. Both of the artists definately gave it all. Zero had a nice colour to thier entry, and was very explorative with the use of composition and storytelling techniques. However, Manda clinched this win with his creative plot and humourous story writing skills. I would suggest however, to both duelists, that they concentrate on making thier fight scenes clearer in the future. Thanks you both, and happy dueling."

7. [link] vs [link]
"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi: Though Eyasan indeed had better drawing skills, mandalorianjedi pulled his entry together with a decent storyline and a good fighting scene. The entry had a satisfying closure as well as well done characterization and more presence. Work on your paneling and drawing skills and you’ll level up much more efficiently."
? more efficiently? I've yet to lose a match! How is that not efficiant!?

8. [link] vs [link]
"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi: Nice work with the flash, clear story telling too.
However, could do with more adventurous angles and framing, as well as more back grounds to set the scene from both of you."
>.> more adventurous angles? Are you refering I do panty-shots? XD

9. [link] vs. [link]
"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi mandalorianjedi's story was better thought out, the action still needs to have some more emphasis on it, but the dialogue kept it interesting. I still think that you need to work on the little quips at the bottom as a narrator thing (the 'hee hee butt' comment) wasn't necessary honestly. Energy123049, I think shading will work to your advantage in future duels to help define depth for your characters. Also, little tip, if you're going to work dialogue in, make sure that the dialogue is on all pages, it definitely does add to the flow of the story. "
hee hee... butt...

10. [link] and vs and [link]
"WINNER:~century-black Both contestants were fairly equally matched, and while mandalorianjedi told a better story, century-black's creative use of paneling and close-up/action shots grabbed attention and made for a more exciting entry overall."
I don't get it... It said we're judges accordingly based on story and action... It said I had a better story and I specialise in action shots... If I can't rely on that anymore, I may as well forfeit from now on...

11. [link] vs [link]
"WINNER:~Dragon-Knight333: I have to say, this was not easy to issue a judgement on this one. I felt that the duel ~Dragon-Knight333 submitted had a nice battle flow to it, and the line art did stand out to me more in this piece. Well done. The fluidity to the movement in some panels was the winning factor for me. As for crits, I would recommend maybe playing with some movement lines to see if it adds some more depth to your work, you have a lot of potential and am looking forward to what you submit next. *mandalorianjedi I am one of your bigger fans, but I didn't think that this piece was as strong as what your opponent submitted. The writing was strong, but it was not enough for this duel to be a win. If you want a crit, just say the word and I'll be more than happy to provide some feedback on it."
DAAAH! I lose again! Oh well... She deserved it... At leased I have a fan apparently... XD

12. [link] vs [link]
"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi: Select, I love your style and your colouring. You also have a great sense of humour. However, in this particular bout I think that MandalorianJedi had the better set up and way to defeat Merchant--Who WOULDN'T dive for coins back in the day? But this was an extremely close call. Mandalorian, I think that you really need to clean up your lines and define your characters a little better. Also, you need to draw to the edge of each panel. That fact alone made it hard to land the vote in your favour; everyone is floating in space, constantly. But I trust that you can improve upon this fact. Again, this was a lovely duel and extremely close. I look forward to seeing more from both of you in the future."
XD yeah... I really should do something about that...

13. [link] vs [link]
"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi: This was a fairly difficult match to judge. Pooky-di-bear had really nice, high quality art from the start, with beautifully rendered backgrounds and creative paneling - something that was dragging mandalorianjedi down on many matches, but in the end, mandalorianjedi had a stronger plotline with some funny bits that were definetly worth reading, and showed much more interaction with the opponent than just a straight up fight-n-win. However, the fight could use a great deal of cleaning up."
:OMG: ... I... won? ... <_< Uh... :boogie: I CAN'T BELEIVE IT! I SWORE I WAS GONNA LOSE CAUSE SHE DID SUCH AN AMAZING JOB!!!

14. [link] vs [link]
"Winner:~OldBegger: Very close match. Both had a good amount of fight, and excellent choreography. Mandalorian's entry had a lot of jokes and story detail. Oldbeggar's entry though shorter was very well written. The dialogue and the set up really established the feel of a professional martial arts match, and that really appealed to me. His characterisation was maybe not as strong as Mandalorian's but still effective. Also he had slightly stronger panel composition. Mandal, again, really would like to see your lines touch the edge of your panels, or that your panel divisions get thickened to to frame your art better. It's a superficial addition but it'll helps the presentation of your comic. Great job guys, and good luck in future matches."
-_- baaah... I'm getting good at losing now... I swear, they pull it from a hat now...

15. [link] vs [link]
"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi for a slightly more cohesive entry. Three things for the both of you: Panel, layout, background. *mandalorianjedi: Try spacing your panels out, and try a variety of sizes because they seem a bit dull at the moment. Framing action in uniform stacks lessens the excitement. Also, as a suggestion, please try drawing to the edges of your panels, and both of you should try to include some more backgrounds. Floating torsos and figures in blank white space isn't very appealing. Speech bubbles wouldn't hurt, either. Your figures are looking good, keep drawing and studying them, and work on your story-telling a bit. Presentation is important, and a good story can be ruined by a weak layout."
And a lazy person can't do quality... XD

Yes, dA is constantly changing their art categories and older pieces get retroactively changed. If it really bugs you, you could go back and manually change them...

Also? Wuss.

And this is why I love you, Occy. You come up with the most interesting interpretations!
