Sorry folks, its not from Spider-Man!
Jen here, speaking for everyone's favorite Mandalorianjedi.

As soon as I hear back from him through email about the comments for the pictures he mailed me, you can expect a 19 picture update with exciting characters for the new Schemdrick comic that he darn well better draw when he gets back!!! That should be happening around Tuesday...

But don't fret ladies and gentlemen, I'm not leaving you hanging. I've got one picture I can post that doesn't require any information from him. :)

While we're at it, here's the letter he mailed me:
------
Dear Janelle,

Well, these are they. In order of when I drew them starting with Gar. Also, these are the only copies so please don't drool too much on them... I mail them to you in hopes that they can be scanned or preserved for when I get back to use them.

I find it odd how different we are to each other no then in school. I'm pretty sure we got along just as well as water and oil where the water thins out the oil making it useless and the oil poisons the water making it useless as well... I remember when Meelod first introduced us back in Jr. High... "John, this is Janelle... She's a loser..." What an intro... Then before I left, Adam compared us to a relationship of brother and sister... Mainly the fighting part...

Hatton
------

Yup, that about sums up me and John. And I remember that introduction so fondly... :P

Mark your calanders for an update next week!

Regards,
Jen

This is from a letter I, *psychoticdustbunny:iconpsychoticdustbunny:
was sent from my son. I am glad to see he has not lost his sense of humour. He was supposed to be flying from Winnipeg to Denver for a two hour layover and then on to Salt Lake City where he was to be met by friends who would take him to the MTC (Missionary Training Center) in Provo. This is a diary of what happened was better handwritten as it was full of his sketches and asides, so I added a few emoticons to try to commensate. This is still very much him . . .

2:00pm - Well, I’m on the plane. I forgot how glorious a plane ride was; probably cause I was only like 6 when I last flew, but oh well . . .the square forms, the river with absolutely no pattern in direction whatsoever, and the level when you reach the clouds . . . as the sun glitters on them, it’s almost like you can walk on them . . . :floating:
I’m writing in my scheduler. I probably should have brought some form of paper. :writersblock: It is a little hard to write on my knee with some turbulence, though it’s not like my writing is legible anyway.
Just make sure you don’t sell my belongings, cause I swear (if I remember) I will unpop my ears and give you hypothermia. :snowing:
I’m kinda hungry, but airline food looks like ground up carrots with ketchup mixed in. :hungry:
Tell Edward that he’d better be gone by the time I get back . . . cause I’ll give him hypothermia too. :snowing:
I’m running out of things to write, then again, I didn’t really write anything here anyway. Oh well, here’s a pirate monkey!
P.S! We had a great laugh in the strip search.
3:30pm – Apparently approval to land the plane was delayed on account of there being too many planes there and a storm, so we were running low on fuel. Now I get the privilege of going to Colorado. Good thing we went through all that confusion so I wouldn’t. It shouldn’t be a problem though. They’ll have another plane to Denver ASAP, and I get a 2 hour wait for my connection. Oh, never mind . . . according to my watch I now have one hour. If I have to pay for a ticket, I’m gonna give the flight approval guy hypothermia! :snowing:
4:10pm – Remember when I said planes were glorious? I take it back. :bleh: They said we’d arrive at Colorado Springs in 10 minutes; 25 minutes later we landed. It’s a real mess. Planes left and right, also relocated. Must be a really nasty storm . . . on the bright side, I think I must have passed a time zone cause I have an extra hour. They say it will be another hour before we can head back to Denver. I hope my connector plane is going to be delayed.
5:44pm – Well, my connection was at 5:04 in Denver and I’m still waiting on the plane in Colorado Springs. Had I expendable Books of Mormon I’d have handed out about 3 b now. :reading: Never had I been called Mormon so positively in society. :)
I just wish I could communicate with anyone (on the ground) now. I’d tell Brother Blahblah not to wait around anytime soon. Poor guy. They won’t even let us out of the plane, so I’ve had nothing to eat all day. At least I know I’m being watched. I had a prayer and had been informed that I’ll still get there . . .
P.S. A Few people suddenly got hypothermia. :innocent::snowing:
6:42 – I’ve had time to read half of Preach My Gospel, the awesomeness of Abinadi (Mosiah 10-15) and have a nap. Apparently there was a delay on refueling from lightening. Our plane was ranked 4th priority for attention first, so there is still hope. I can’t read anymore cause people are yelling, babies crying and thunder roaring. It’s a race now. The storm is coming back so we’re trying to fuel it up as soon as we can . . . oh, just got the announcement to buckle up, so I guess we made it . . .
P.S. My butt is sore.
7:06pm – Tell father I’m never following in his steps as far as the military or planes go . . .
Again we are delayed. Still not in Denver. We’re waiting in line to take off cause this is a tiny airport. At least the pilot is fun . . . we played a game to guess his middle name – starts with “R”, so I guessed Rumplestilskin, Radigast, Rigrigin. Rasputin and Ragulus. I won cause no-one could get it and I had the best suggestions. Said take off should take another half hour. And it’s only a 15 minute flight . . . Weeeee! This is the best mission ever! Everyone around me is getting furious . . . :frustrated:
7:13pm (8:13- changed my watch) – Finally in Denver and luckily got a 9:25 flight to Salt Lake. While I was in the 7 hour long line to get another plane, a lady came over and said that she is opening her station on the other side, so I got a no-wait. :) Now maybe I can eat something . . . lost my tie clip. . . I saw prices and wow! A little sandwich for $8? Either the exchange rate is insane or they cheat you at the airport. But I have to eat, so here I go. Until my flight . . . :relax:
P.S. This sandwich had better be gold platted!
7:45pm – Had my sandwich. The crust was stale, had mayo squirting out, had a light soggy layer of lettuce (I think it was lettuce anyway). After enduring it, I looked in the paper bag and got excited when I saw another half . . . must not have been too bad; that or I’m delusional from lack of nourishment and sitting for 6 hours straight. :excited: Still waiting for that plane . . . Again, I feel really bad for Brother Blahblah . . .
P.S. I miss my CTR tie-clip. :(
8:10pm – I am tired. I was waiting at Gate B94 where the Salt Lake plane was going. Turns out that was my earlier one. My re-made ticket is for Gate B47, which is literally on the opposite side . . . :sprint:
And GREAT! It’s been delayed until 10:08. Can you drive me home when I’m done my 2 years?
P.S. On the bright side, I got to ride the moving walkways. This is the best day ever!
9:15pm – I met some friendly members. Not too surprising waiting for a Salt Lake flight. Two of them are authors and told me about their new book coming out in August-about getting along with in-laws, based on experience. Read it! I’m not allowed for now. ‘Meeting Amazing Grace’ it’s called. She also has, ‘I Don’t Have to Make Everything All Better.’ I am quite tired. :sleepy: It’s past my bedtime. Now we have 2 pilots for our flight. . . just no plane!
9:39pm – There was a bunny on the runway out of my window. I think he is lost. I tried to give him a pass-along card, but he ran off. Must be afraid of change. BUNNY!
10:30pm – I am finally on my connecting plane. I am going to sleep now . . .
The pilots are grumpy. They made everyone get on the plane and be ready within 10 minutes or they threatened to leave. :explosion: Course I’m sure I’ve had more patience then they had today.
11:36pm – I apparently seemed to forget that I can’t sleep on moving vehicles. Just got the announcement that we’re preparing to land. If it’s anything like my last plane, it’ll be another 3 hours or so . . . I feel really bad for Brother Blahblah now. I have a splitting headache too :headache:. Things will turn out better.
Everyone keeps asking where I’m going after seeing my nametag, and I say, “Utah.” It’s always fun cause they mean after the MTC . . . BUT I’M SERVING THERE! BWAHAHA! :mwahaha:
12:45am (1:45 to me!) – I have arrived at Brother Blahblah's house. He and his family are super generous and nice. :) I feel bad that I can’t make things up to them at this time. I find that I have to turn down offers so I don’t eat them out of house and home . . .
1:40am – Neeeed sleeeep. I convinced Brother Blahblah to go to bed. My. What an interesting way to start my mission. This must be a really good mission if the adversary has to work this hard and still fail . . . IN YOUR FACE! Ahem.
I’m off to the MTC by noon. At this rate my ride will break down. I’d best pray for extra safety.
P.S. I hope they have a cat cause it’s dark, I heard a squeaky type noise and I’m too tired to look . . . :paranoid:

From a later e-mail:
There are a couple of things I've neglected to mention last time... Much like how I seem to have forgotten my cable for my camera to connect to my computer. On the plane, they broke my locks on my luggage to search them and lost one of my memory cards for my camera and my Patriarchal Blessing copy. May I have another one copy of that?

I am gone, but will return...

w00t! I'm going to Utah! I got my misson call (you know... for being a missionary) and I'm off to "Utah Salt Lake City South Mission" which isn't actually Salt Lake City, but southwards. It's a little handy that it's only one country away (I'm Canadian), so I don't really need anymore vaccines... though I do need to get me a 2 year visa to stay in the US, but I already have a passport, so it shouldn't be hard... Oh, if you have no idea what I'm talking about, I've posted this previously:

"This may seem sudden for a lot of you, but not for some. In a couple months (may-june-ish), I am leaving for 2 years. I will not have access to DA in those 2 years. I will seem dead to you I suppose.

I will be serving a mission for my church and become a missionary. Most people grown and moan over the thought, but you must not know our missionaries. I'm LDS (latter-day saints aka mormon) and our missionsaries are not nearly as irritating as other religions. If you say you don't want to listen, we thank you for your time and leave. Not the "Then your soul is condemed!" nonsence and they don't leave until you take their stupid booklet... If they do that, you have my permission to spray them with your garden hose. Water balloons work well too...

Anyway, while I'm gone, I hope none of you will un-watch me, cause beleive it or not, I like you. I like DA. Upon my return, I'll ask if everyone still uses DA and hope for replies, cause I will be back in 2010.

In the meantime, I am still here. If you have any questions, feel free to ask."

I'm assigned to be there by July 9th 2008. In theory, I should return by August-ish 2010... So mark those down on your calenders! XD

I won't have any internet access... I'll get to use e-mail once a week, but not DA. So I'll be dead to you for 2 years. So in my deadness, feel free to message me... I won't likely see it until I return... But if you feel a need to tell me something, go for it...

...I'm kinda looking forwards to getting a few thousand deviations and messages when I get back... -_- And I'm totally gonna pass 9000 pageviews in my absence so the "It's OVER 9000!!!" joke won't feel right... :(

Wait for me!

...Dork time... 143 is the sum of three consecutive primes (43 + 47 + 53), as well as the sum of seven consecutive primes (11 + 13 + 17 + 19 + 23 + 29 + 31). But this number is never the sum of an integer and its base 10 digits, making it a self number.

Every positive integer is the sum of at most 143 seventh powers.

143 is the difference in the first exception to the pattern shown below:

32 + 42 = 52
33 + 43 + 53 = 63
34 + 44 + 54 + 64 = 74 − 143

can you live without a microwave: yeah. I'd rather use the oven.

what do you always think about: how I can make this funny
what is wrong with your school: drugs, violence, prejudice, bullies, teachers choosing favorites, valndals, knife fights, suicide attempts... I've seen it all...
what is right with your school: School? Right? BAH HA HAAA!!!
how do you react to change: depends on what it is...
do you talk to yourself: only normal people wouldn't...
what is your opinion on love: depends on your definition of love. True love is fake. There is no perfect person out there waiting for you. To think that is selfish. Love takes 2 people's opinions and efforts, not just one. Intercourse should only take place after marrage, not only for religious sakes, but it's just a smarter thing to do.
can you afford to lose weight: I guess... I'm not light... but I'm far from fat...
what color would you dye your hair: hair dye is gross...
best thing anyone told you: ...that I'm hot? I dunno... Most compliments creep me out...
what is your reaction to someone telling you you're hot: Again... creeps me out... Flattering, but creepy...
does being psycho appeal to you: ...yes...
if you wrote a book, what would it be about: comedy
what would you change your name to: Sue. I wanna be named sue! XD Or Cindy!

*****(May 1,2008) I will no longer be accepting duels!

character staus:
Kawazoe ([link]) Rank A wounded, unavailable
Megumi ([link]) Rank B unavailable
Black Dragon ([link]) Unranked unavailable

(challenger is on the right for all of them and in order of due dates) (-_- I'm yoo lazy to fix it from the images to stupid links, so I'll just leave it like this for now...)

Duels done:

1. :thumb73802407: vs :thumb73933447: [link]
victory to me by default :(

2. [link] :thumb73915276: vs :thumb73933447: [link]
"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi: *mandalorianjedi was the winner in a not so easy decision, both artists did bring unique aspects to the duels, but in the end, unfortunately there could be only one, and that one was Mandalorianjedi. *mandalorianjedi You did an excellent job with the dialogue and character interaction in your piece. You did a good job on conveying the difference in the characters, and did keep it engaging while they were having their argument. Only real recommendations for future duels is to possibly add a bit more to the backgrounds to give a clearer sense to where the characters are, and also possibly try out a few different angles for the character's positions in the fight - most were front or 3/4 views. ~SSBFreak I have to always give credit for originality, especially regarding a takedown-by-origami technique (it had me rolling), however, it was not enough for the win of the duel since there wasn't as much action between the two opponents. Cameos are a good thing, however, you should still keep more of a focus on what the two that are fighting are doing. Panelwise, it was very engaging and did flow well. The only other suggestion I can make is to avoid using sound effects only to resolve the fight instead of action. Great job on both of the participants parts. :)"
Oh posh! I'm no novice when it comes to comics! I did that cause there was more dialogue then fight...

3. :thumb68290956: vs :thumb73933447: and :thumb74020904: [link]
Victory to me by deault... :(

4. [link] :thumb73739577: and :thumb74185729: vs :thumb73933447: and :thumb74020904: [link]
"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi: The premise of this 2-on-2 battle was very interesting. Both competitors had a similar premise of the battle (though akina-sa and lisacat89 did some marvelous coloring on their part, and they did mix it up with the paneling and pacing quite a bit more than mandalorianjedi) Mandalorianjedi did a better job overall, he had more meat to his dialogue and revealed more about the characters, and did a good job with the fight."

5. [link] :thumb74734039: vs :thumb74020904: [link]
"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi: This was very much an art versus story match for me. Much more of a fight in Mandal's entry, though theres no doubt jbc had the better art. In the intrest of balance I'd like to see Mandal adding a bit more detail to his work in terms of things like backgrounds or even just extending his characters to the edge of the panels, and perhaps seeing more fight scripted from jbc."
 Me? Use backgrounds? Quality? Nonsence! Quantity over quality!

6. [link] :thumb69609205: vs :thumb73933447: [link]
"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi: This was a great match. Both of the artists definately gave it all. Zero had a nice colour to thier entry, and was very explorative with the use of composition and storytelling techniques. However, Manda clinched this win with his creative plot and humourous story writing skills. I would suggest however, to both duelists, that they concentrate on making thier fight scenes clearer in the future. Thanks you both, and happy dueling."

"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi: Though Eyasan indeed had better drawing skills, mandalorianjedi pulled his entry together with a decent storyline and a good fighting scene. The entry had a satisfying closure as well as well done characterization and more presence. Work on your paneling and drawing skills and you’ll level up much more efficiently."
? more efficiently? I've yet to lose a match! How is that not efficiant!?

"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi: Nice work with the flash, clear story telling too.
However, could do with more adventurous angles and framing, as well as more back grounds to set the scene from both of you."
>.> more adventurous angles? Are you refering I do panty-shots? XD

9. [link] :thumb74020904: vs. :thumb69610131: [link]
"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi mandalorianjedi's story was better thought out, the action still needs to have some more emphasis on it, but the dialogue kept it interesting. I still think that you need to work on the little quips at the bottom as a narrator thing (the 'hee hee butt' comment) wasn't necessary honestly. Energy123049, I think shading will work to your advantage in future duels to help define depth for your characters. Also, little tip, if you're going to work dialogue in, make sure that the dialogue is on all pages, it definitely does add to the flow of the story. "

"WINNER:~century-black Both contestants were fairly equally matched, and while mandalorianjedi told a better story, century-black's creative use of paneling and close-up/action shots grabbed attention and made for a more exciting entry overall."
I don't get it... It said we're judges accordingly based on story and action... It said I had a better story and I specialise in action shots... If I can't rely on that anymore, I may as well forfeit from now on...

"WINNER:~Dragon-Knight333: I have to say, this was not easy to issue a judgement on this one. I felt that the duel ~Dragon-Knight333 submitted had a nice battle flow to it, and the line art did stand out to me more in this piece. Well done. The fluidity to the movement in some panels was the winning factor for me. As for crits, I would recommend maybe playing with some movement lines to see if it adds some more depth to your work, you have a lot of potential and am looking forward to what you submit next. *mandalorianjedi I am one of your bigger fans, but I didn't think that this piece was as strong as what your opponent submitted. The writing was strong, but it was not enough for this duel to be a win. If you want a crit, just say the word and I'll be more than happy to provide some feedback on it."
DAAAH! I lose again! Oh well... She deserved it... At leased I have a fan apparently... XD

"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi: Select, I love your style and your colouring. You also have a great sense of humour. However, in this particular bout I think that MandalorianJedi had the better set up and way to defeat Merchant--Who WOULDN'T dive for coins back in the day? But this was an extremely close call. Mandalorian, I think that you really need to clean up your lines and define your characters a little better. Also, you need to draw to the edge of each panel. That fact alone made it hard to land the vote in your favour; everyone is floating in space, constantly. But I trust that you can improve upon this fact. Again, this was a lovely duel and extremely close. I look forward to seeing more from both of you in the future."
XD yeah... I really should do something about that...

"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi: This was a fairly difficult match to judge. Pooky-di-bear had really nice, high quality art from the start, with beautifully rendered backgrounds and creative paneling - something that was dragging mandalorianjedi down on many matches, but in the end, mandalorianjedi had a stronger plotline with some funny bits that were definetly worth reading, and showed much more interaction with the opponent than just a straight up fight-n-win. However, the fight could use a great deal of cleaning up."
:ohnoes: ... I... won? ... <_< Uh... :boogie: I CAN'T BELEIVE IT! I SWORE I WAS GONNA LOSE CAUSE SHE DID SUCH AN AMAZING JOB!!!

"Winner:~OldBegger: Very close match. Both had a good amount of fight, and excellent choreography. Mandalorian's entry had a lot of jokes and story detail. Oldbeggar's entry though shorter was very well written. The dialogue and the set up really established the feel of a professional martial arts match, and that really appealed to me. His characterisation was maybe not as strong as Mandalorian's but still effective. Also he had slightly stronger panel composition. Mandal, again, really would like to see your lines touch the edge of your panels, or that your panel divisions get thickened to to frame your art better. It's a superficial addition but it'll helps the presentation of your comic. Great job guys, and good luck in future matches."
-_- baaah... I'm getting good at losing now... I swear, they pull it from a hat now...

15. [link] :thumb75541194: vs :thumb80298476: [link]
"WINNER:*mandalorianjedi for a slightly more cohesive entry. Three things for the both of you: Panel, layout, background. *mandalorianjedi: Try spacing your panels out, and try a variety of sizes because they seem a bit dull at the moment. Framing action in uniform stacks lessens the excitement. Also, as a suggestion, please try drawing to the edges of your panels, and both of you should try to include some more backgrounds. Floating torsos and figures in blank white space isn't very appealing. Speech bubbles wouldn't hurt, either. Your figures are looking good, keep drawing and studying them, and work on your story-telling a bit. Presentation is important, and a good story can be ruined by a weak layout."
"slightly more cohesive entry"? Wow... that's not insulting...

"Winner: ~IVANPS Ivan won this duel with a hearty and interesting colour scheme as well as a well defined finishing blow. Manalorianjedi, your image turned out a little to dark and it was hard to tell what has happening because of the darkness. Great work, and happy dueling."
O.o would you rather I made a happy bright duel? It was supposed to be dark! I lost cause of that?

Well, 12/15 duel wins ain't bad if you ask me... XD

*****(May 1,2008) I will no longer be accepting duels! I am cleaning up before I go. Few acceptions...

character staus:
Kawazoe ([link]) Rank A wounded, unavailable
Megumi ([link]) Rank B available
Black Dragon ([link]) Unranked available
